Sygic: GPS Navigation 13.1 BETA v2

Allow us to introduce the new Sygic GPS Navigation 13.1 BETA for Android!
We have added a lot of new features and we need you, our users, to help us with testing and improving things before the final release.
In BETA v2 we have improved Drag & Drop feature and fixed some minor bugs.

Here is a small FAQ to prevent any misunderstandings:

Can I use this 13.1 BETA application ?
New BETA app can be used by users with licensed Sygic: GPS Navigation app, or, for users with valid trial period.
Please note that the GPS Navigation license needs to be one from our e-shop at www.sygic.com for the beta to work.



What do I need to do to install this 13.1 BETA application ?

1. You need to have Sygic: GPS Navigation app installed on your device from Google Play Store. Please note that this BETA v2 can be installed only as a clean install or update to market version, not as an update from first BETA v1.
2. Download beta .apk installation file to your device.
3. Make sure that option for installing apps from unknown sources (non-Market apps) is turned on, on your device. You can find it in Android Settings > Security > Unknown sources.
4. If you do not have any file manager app installed, you can choose one from Google Play Store.
   For example, you can use ES File Explorer File Manager or ASTRO File Manager.
5. We recommend you to make a backup (copy) whole “Sygic” folder from your SD card/internal memory to prevent data loss (maps, favorites, custom POI etc.) in case of failure.
6. Open file manager and search for .apk file that you have just downloaded from the link above, when you find it, install it.
7. That’s all. Now open the new Sygic app from application menu of your device and wait until all resources files are downloaded.

(Please, use WiFi connection to do this, it is faster and saves you a lot of MB from your mobile data plan).

How can I move back to stable market version after BETA test ?
Just delete the whole “Sygic” folder from SD card/internal memory and install the original Sygic” folder that you have backed-up. After this, open Google Play Store and look for Sygic: GPS Navigation, uninstall and install it again (it will replace BETA .apk with stable .apk from Google Play Store).
This is all you need to do before using new BETA app, now we come to the main part.

We will really appreciate if you can test these features:

1. Drag & Drop for simple route editing – In version 13.1, you are able to edit your route using Drag & Drop feature. It is pretty easy. When you already have any route from point A to point B computed, just tap and hold your finger at any point of your route and drag it to your desired position. Drop the flag and your route will be recalculated afterwards.
2. Pedestrian mode with spoken instructions – From version 13.1, you can use spoken instruction for pedestrian mode as well.
3. Sidebar for tablets – If you have an Android tablet, from now you can enjoy Sidebar that will show you a lot of useful information about your route.
4. Off-road – Sometimes you just need to get off the known roads. In this case, our Off-road feature will leave “bread crumbs” behind you. So, you will never have a problem with getting back on the road. Off-road will track your movement and help you get back the way you came from.
5. Fix for Contacts on Android ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) - From this version, there should be no problem with navigating to your contacts.

We are very happy to announce Sygic Places and our cooperation with TripAdvisor.
Sygic Places is a very easy way how to implement your points of interest into Sygic GPS Navigation. Whether you want them just for your friends or want to target millions of our users. Our first partner for Places is TripAdvisor – the world’s most trusted travel site.
Once you install the desired extension, you will get all the TripAdvisor POIs from the city of your choice, together with rating and reviews. Here are some screenshots so you can see what it looks like once you’re done.

In My Sygic, you can find new folders - TripAdvisor and Places. At the moment you have dozens of extensions to choose from, depending on the maps you have installed on your device.
Please, try if installing and uninstalling these extension is working without any problems.

2. Using installed extensions from Places
Directly on the map, you can click on restaurant, hotel and accommodation POIs and you should be able to see ratings & reviews from users of TripAdvisor, Booking.com or Hotels.info
In action dialog you can see new snippet. After clicking on it, you should be redirected to mobile web.

- traffic view allows you to quickly check nearby traffic situation
- traffic bar rolls traffic info for calculated route

Users with Traffic subscription are able to see new Traffic Information Service redesign and improvements.
After clicking in Traffic button in upper left corner, you will be switched to Traffic mode with darker theme, so it is easier to see the traffic.
On your route, you can see traffic delay. After clicking on it, you can see average speed on route with traffic.

2. Overall improved stability and speed of application
Just do whatever you want in Sygic app. If you will find any problem, crash or something unusual, just let us know in feedback form.

Νεα απο το Sygic beta testing

hello. we uploaded new version 16.4.11 with just two little fixes. no big deal.
we are busy preparing first regular beta 17.0.0 that will contain new great search. thanks

Εχουμε φτασει στην εκδοση 17.0.7 και υπαρχουν προβληματα σε αρκετους χρηστες, απ' οσο διαβαζω στο forum της Sygic. Δεν μπορω να πω με ασφαλεια ποσο ακομα χρονο θελουμε πριν κυκλοφορησει στο playstore η τελικη εκδοση 17. Για οσουν εχουν προβλημα στην χρηση μετα απο την καταργηση των πληκτρων zoom +- και 2D/3D, οπως βλεπω απο την εκδοση 17.0.6 και μετα (υπαρχουν στις beta εκδοσεις σε αλλη θεση σε σχεση με το παρελθον), ελπιζω να επιστεψουν οταν θα βγουν οι τελικες στο playstore.

please try everything possible in whole app, because we used newest support library and there might be some problems.
also please try search, many little improvements are done.
