HERE Maps: Σέ όλες τις Windows 8.1 συσκευές

Σύντομα (τις επόμενες ημέρες) οι χάρτες HERE της Nokia, θα είναι διαθέσιμοι δωρεάν σε όλα τα tablet, laptops, desktops που έχουν εγκατεστημένα τα Windows 8.1. Τόσο τα Windows RT όσο και οι Pro συσκευές θα υποστηριχθούν. Η εφαρμογή είναι δωρεάν και διατίθεται από το κατάστημα των Windows ξεκινώντας από τη Βόρεια Αμερική και την Ευρώπη. Αυτή η έκδοση υποστηρίζει τελευταίες υψηλής ανάλυσης δορυφορικές εικόνες.

Πολύ καλή κίνηση αφού οι Bing Maps δεν υποστηρίζουν offline αλλά ούτε 3D & Street view. Έπρεπε όμως να το βλέπαμε και για Windows 7 και όχι μόνο για τα 8.1.
Κατά τα άλλα θα είναι μια πλήρως offline και δωρεάν εφαρμογή (σε όσες συσκευές βεβαίως υπάρχει GPS chip) που συνδυάζει διανυσματικούς, δορυφορικούς και τρισδιάστατους χάρτες, σημεία ενδιαφέροντας και σχεδιασμό διαδρομής , γρήγορη (ταχύτητα φορτώματος τέσσερις φορές πιο γρήγορα από το παρελθόν ), θα υποστηρίζει οθόνες αφής, η υψηλή ανάλυση των δορυφορυκών έχει σπουδαία επίδραση στην ορατότητα σε υψηλά επίπεδα μεγέθυνσης, θα προσφέρει προγραμματισμό διαδρομής (Route-planning) αλλά όχι ακόμη πλοήγηση απο στροφή σε στροφή (turn by turn). Η εφαρμογή επίσης θα κρατάει ιστορικό των προσφάτων διαδρομών που έχουν υπολογιστεί, τις οποίες θα ταξινομούμε ανάλογα της απόστασης απο τη θέση μας είτε με βαθμολογία. Θα μπορούμε επίσης να προφορτώσουμε διαδρομές που χρησιμοποιούμε συχνά, για ταχύτερη εκκίνηση.


Nokia today announced that they will be releasing HERE Maps app for free for all Windows RT/8 devices in Windows Store. HERE Maps is an all-in-one mapping solution, combining vector, satellite and 3D maps, points of interest, search and route planning. You can also download maps for offline us as you enjoy it on Lumia devices. Nokia announced the following improvements over previous version of the app.


First of all: speed. The offline maps load as quickly as your computer can manage, of course, so itʼs a lot faster than using a website for navigation. But there are also speed improvements to the online portions. City pages, for example, now load up to four times faster, thanks to the use of progressive rendering and some clever optimisations to the data transfers.

Second, you can still use your touchscreen to control HERE Maps, and now you can also use your mouse and keyboard, which is a more useful option for most desktop PC users.

Third, this release supports our latest high-resolution satellite imagery. As you can see from the ʽbefore and afterʼ image below, this makes a pretty considerable impact on visibility at high zoom levels.

And thereʼs more. The app will keep a record of your search history and routes you have calculated. When you see a list of places, you can sort them by their distance from you, or by their rating. The app also takes advantage of Windows 8.1 preloading, which gets the apps you use frequently ready to launch in the background for a faster start.
