Η Samsung λέει ότι θέλει να αλλάξει τον τρόπο που βλέπουμε τα smartwatches, μετά την αλλαγή που έχει φέρει η εταιρεία στα smartphones με τα μοντέλα edge.

Είναι πιθανό το Gear S2 εκτός από κυκλικό σχήμα να έχει και χαρακτηριστικά ‘edge’, οθόνη δηλαδή με έξτρα λειτουργικότητα, με βάση τα πρότυπα των edge smartphone της εταιρείας, όπως είναι το πρόσφατα ανακοινωμένο Galaxy S6 edge+.

H Samsung ανακοίνωσε επίσημα το Gear S2 Smartwatch, με στρογγυλή οθόνη και Tizen OS. Η συσκευή έχει περιστρεφόμενα bezels και φέρει πιστοποίηση IP68, που το κάνει αδιάβροχο μέχρι το βάθος του 1.5 μέτρου γλυκού νερού, ενώ είναι ανθεκτικό και στην σκόνη. Η συσκευή θα κάνει την πρώτη της εμφάνιση στην IFA 2015 σε δύο εκδόσεις, το Gear S2 και το Gear S2 Classic.
Τα Gear S2 μπορούν να αξιοποιηθούν για την ενημέρωση του χρήστη μέσω ειδοποιήσεων για το πρόγραμμά του, για τα μηνύματα ηλεκτρονικού ταχυδρομείου και τα SMS, τις ειδήσεις, τις προβλέψεις για τον καιρό, την πρόσβαση σε χάρτες και την λήψη οδηγιών πλοήγησης, την αναπαραγωγή φωτογραφιών και μουσικής, την τήρηση ηχητικών σημειώσεων. Εκτός όμως από τις λειτουργίες αυτές, το Gear S2 3G επιτρέπει την αυτόνομη χρήση του, αφού φέρει ενσωματωμένη κάρτα σύνδεσης σε δίκτυα κινητής τηλεφωνίας, σε ηλεκτρονική μορφή, την πρώτη e-SIM που θα εξυπηρετήσει την ανάγκη δικτύωσης των «πραγμάτων» στο Ίντερνετ. Με την e-SIM, ο κάτοχος ενός Samsung Gear S2 3G θα μπορεί να χρησιμοποιεί το ρολόι του και ως τηλέφωνο, αφού υποστηρίζει την επικοινωνία με φωνή (Voice Input, S-Voice και Voice Memo).

Samsung has revealed its newest smartwatch, the Samsung Gear S2, which melds classic design with thoughtful functionality in a beautifully rounded watch face.
We’ve been eagerly anticipating the launch of the new Samsung Gear S2 like most of you, especially since HERE is behind the turn-by-turn navigation app designed just for the Samsung Gear S2. You can find HERE for Gear by searching for ‘Navigator’. HERE for Gear works in companion mode with HERE for Android (http://360.here.com/tag/HERE-for-Android/) on your smartphone, so go ahead and download the HERE app for a truly seamless start-up experience.
Integration with Samsung Maps

Building on our partnership with Samsung that was announced last year (http://360.here.com/2014/08/29/here-samsung-gear-tizen/), we are also powering all location experiences on Tizen devices like the Samsung Gear S2 with our HERE mobile SDK. The preinstalled Samsung Maps on all Samsung Gear S2 devices integrates with the HERE for Gear app when you need turn-by-turn navigation.
Use the Samsung Maps app to see your current position on a HERE map and search for places like hotels, restaurants or theaters nearby. When you’ve found a place you can select the information button to get more details about the location. Tapping the directional arrows icon will show you how long it will take to get there from your current position. Selecting β€œNavigate” from this screen will open HERE for Gear for turn-by-turn walk or drive navigation.
How to start using HERE for Gear

When HERE for Gear starts, you’ll see a green icon light up to show that your current location has been found. To select a destination for guidance, drag your finger from the mid-point of the watch face down to see a list of recently searched for locations and tap on it. Or, use the rotating bezel to select a recent destination or input free text for a new location.

Tap the location to confirm and drive and walking routes are calculated. Swipe to the left or rotate the bezel to see more route options. Tap to select your preferred drive or walking route and guidance starts.

Since HERE for Gear is designed to work in companion mode, the HERE app on your smartphone will automatically detect that you’ve started guidance and start up so you can see your maneuvers on the map. Similarly, searching for a place and starting navigation in the HERE app on your phone will automatically open HERE for Gear on your Samsung Gear S2.
You can then either mount your phone in an in-car holder for visible guidance or leave it in your bag – your Samsung Gear S2 will let you know when you need to make a turn.

When you need to make a turn, the Samsung Gear S2 face is updated with the new maneuver and will also vibrate to indicate the turn as well as vibrate when you have reached your destination or if you are being re-routed. When you’ve arrived at your destination select β€œok” to confirm and the app exits guidance both on the watch and on your phone.
β€œIt was really important for both Samsung and HERE to create a turn-by-turn navigation experience for the Gear S2 that wouldn’t distract the driver,” says Mateusz Tomaszewski, Principal UX Designer at HERE. β€œWorking closely with the UX team at Samsung, we investigated, tested and came up with different vibration patterns for left and right turns so you don’t need to take your eyes off the road to know that you need to make the next move.”
The notification feature is also really handy when you need walking guidance. You can leave your phone in your pocket and get subtle alerts on your wrist while exploring an unfamiliar city. This leaves you free to see what’s actually around you, rather than focusing on your phone screen.

HERE for Gear also works with S Voice on the Samsung Gear S2. Simply choose S Voice from the start screen and speak your destination, for example β€œNavigate to Heathrow airport,” and HERE for Gear will start up and calculate the route.
Two can be better than one

HERE for Gear works in companion mode with the HERE app on your smartphone. This puts just the right amount of information you need on your wrist in a lightweight, sleek design and leaves the phone to do the heavy processing, helping save battery life. There’s also no need to send routes back and forth between devices since the Navigator app on your Samsung Gear S2 will automatically start up when you start navigation from the HERE app on your smartphone and vice versa; start navigation on the Samsung Gear S2 and navigation starts on the phone. Companion mode also means that when you search for places in the HERE app on your smartphone, you’ll see those same places show up in the recent list when you start Navigator on the Samsung Gear S2 making it easy to find the place you need to navigate to.
HERE for Gear will be available when the Samsung Gear S2 arrives in stores worldwide this fall.

Περιστρέφοντας την πρόσοψη του Gear S2, επιλέγουμε μεταξύ προσφάτων διαδρομών και νέου προορισμού. Η συσκευή θα δονείται όταν χρειαστεί να στρίψουμε, όταν γίνει επαναδρομολόγηση και όταν φτάσουμε στον προορισμό μας. Θα υποστηρίζει και το S Voice.
